Dissolved Inorganic Carbon Analysis in Water by GasBench-IRMS

Picture
Sample types
The SIRFER lab provides analysis of Dissolved Inorganic Carbon in water samples using Thermo Finnigan GasBench II connected to a  Finnigan IRNMS.

Sample preparation
The water samples need to be shipped to the SIRFER facility in airtight glass containers with no headspace. The water samples must be treated with mercurous chloride (Hg2Cl2) to prevent any further organic activity in the water samples after collection. At the SIRFER facility the samples are stored in a cold room at
4 °C until they are analyzed.

Any sample with visible suspended sediment in it must be filtered through a 0.2 μm filter (e.g., VWR part 28143-946). This service will be provided by SIRFER at a nominal fee for any samples submitted with particulates.

Samples should be shipped to SIRFER as described here. A request for analysis and sample ID list should be emailed to us at the time of shipping.
